The idea of sports psychology was first introduced to this country by Coleman Griffith at the University of Illinois in 1925, and the acknowledgement of sports psychology methods having a distinct positive effect on athletic performance has come a long way since that time. Today’s athletes value the mental approach to enhancing skills to increase overall performance.

Wayne found Sport Psychology as a High School athlete that struggled with performance anxiety. From there he would go on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology from West Virginia University And a Masters degree in Counseling with a specialization in Sport Psychology from Boston University. While in the program at BU Wayne spent time working with a range of collegiate athletes from Basketball and Soccer to Diving and Cross country. It was alongside those athletic teams that he gained the experience in helping athletes to improve their mental toughness. Wayne Currently works as a Mental Conditioning Coordinator helping athletes and performers develop skills to improve their mental game. |

- GOAL SETTING: We’ll provide guidelines on the value of learning to develop short-term and long-term goals and how this practice will enhance the athlete’s overall athletic performance.
- VISUAL IMAGERY: Athletes will learn the positive results of using powerful methods to visualize performance scenarios prior to the actual event.
- ELIMINATING DISTRACTIONS: We will discuss methods to performing successfully in front of a raucous crowd or an important game.
- MOTIVATION: Learn how to properly motivate for team rewards (championships and social acceptance, e.g.) as well as individual rewards (personal performance mastery, e.g.).
