Alyssa comes from a military background and began to focus on softball when her family moved to Ashburn, Virginia. At 12 years old, Alyssa made the decision to switch from batting right to left to become a triple-threat at the plate. She could bunt, slap, and hit for power. Alyssa attended Briar Woods High School where she was ranked "Top 10 Softball Players in Loudoun County" two years in a row, and was ranked in "The Best Players in USSSA Baseball and Fastpitch Softball" in 2013 and 2014.
Alyssa went on to play NCAA Division 1 Softball at Howard University where she pursued a degree in Elementary Education. Due to a knee knee injury she was only able to hit as a substitute, but as a Freshman she still led the team in triples, RBIs, home runs, and had an on-base percentage of .349, an slugging percentage of .435, OPS (on-base + slugging percentage) of .784.
Alyssa's love for the game began at an early age, and she wants to instill the same love for the game in the players she coaches.
