7v7 Field Hockey (3rd-6th Graders)
The Perfect Performance Rec Field Hockey League utilizes a 7v7 format for our 3rd-6th grade teams. 7v7 gives Field Hockey players an opportunity to develop their skills on a smaller scale. The small-sided game format provides players with more opportunities to see the ball, in turn developing fundamentals, and game IQ. 7v7 prepares players with the tools necessary to succeed when transitioning to 11v11. This is the same league format that USA Field Hockey uses to prepare young Field Hockey players for 11v11 play.
The small-sided game format is beneficial and directly transferable to the skills that are used in both outdoor and indoor regulation sized games. 7v7 requires players to rely on their fundamentals and game IQ which is why many of the best Field Hockey players collegiately and professionally have played in 7v7 leagues.
7v7 is played played on a half-field format. Teams must have a Goalie in full gear. Girls will either rotate, or goalies can play the full games.
